Last April, Speedy and I were at the girls’ school to watch Kimberly & Johnson, a play about relationships.
We were there to cheer when Alex she took her bow during the curtain call.
No, she wasn’t one of the actors.
She was assistant stage manager.
But moral support and our physical presence weren’t the only ways by which we supported Alex.
We paid for a spot in the souvenir program too.
You know that saying about “starving artists”? Well, the Kimberly & Johnson production needed more financial support than any of the other productions that Alex have been involved in.
Alex is with another production now and rehearsals are ongoing. This time, instead of us making a donation to the production, the show’s producers will pay her for her work. Her first earning. She’s very excited.
