Two things: First, I often submit photos to Photo Friday‘s weekly challenges. Been doing so for the past several months. Not always. But often. Second, Alex is taking up Theater, not Film. Is there a connection? Of course, or I wouldn’t have mentioned them one after the other.
This week’s Photo Friday challenge is Reflect. I glanced through the photos in my hard drive and I didn’t think I’d be able to submit anything. Then, I walked into Alex’s bedroom with her unfinished re-decorating project. I wanted a photo of the cans of paint on the floor, my tripod was downstairs and I was too lazy to get it, so I set the camera on the floor and took a shot.
Voila! The paint cans and all the other accessories were reflected on the floor. Perfect for the Reflect challenge (yeah, clean shiny floor — we have good house help).
Now, the Theater part. Alex is currently obsessed with three musicals. The first is Rent; the second is Spring Awakening; the third is American Idiot. Rent is a rock opera based on Giacomo Puccini’s opera La bohème. We have the DVD of the film version, books… What we can’t find locally, I order on Amazon for her.
Alex has books of Spring Awakening and the soundtrack of American Idiot. She pores over anything and everything about these three musicals day in and day out. So, when Alex decided that her bedroom needed a new look, it was a foregone conclusion what the motif would be.
One wall will be dedicated to Rent.
Above, the Rent poster. Below, the unfinished painting on Alex’s wall. She wants me to post photos AFTER she is done with her painting project; I promised her there would be a “before and after” post later.
The closet doors will be for American Idiot. I don’t know where Spring Awakening figures in the scheme of things. Alex herself isn’t sure yet.
How long the painting project will take, I have no idea. I’m just glad that she’s enjoying her term break. Next week, the second trimester begins and I’ll only see my girls on weekends once more. Until Christmas. And that’s three long months into the future.
