I found a very interesting (and useful) infographic on Pinterest containing a list of “30 Shots” and we tried making some of them — with a few tweaks here and there if we don’t have the exact ingredients. Funny that this drink should be included in a list of shots when it is properly a shooter rather than a shot (read the difference between a shooter and shot).
The original recipe for pineapple upside-down cake, the cocktail, per the infographic, calls for vanilla vodka which we didn’t have so we used good ole plain vodka instead. I don’t know how much difference it would make, in terms of flavor and aroma, if this drink were made with vanilla vodka but our version turned out great just the same.
- 1 oz vodka
- 1 oz unsweetened pineapple juice
- 1/4 oz grenadine
- This pineapple upside-down cake is a layered drink which means the ingredients are poured into the glass according to their specific gravity (read about layered drinks and specific gravity).
- Pour the grenadine into a shot glass, followed by the pineapple juice and, finally, the vodka.
- This is a shooter so drink the contents of the glass in one go to properly appreciate the mix of flavors.
