Pineapple and the Fibonacci Sequence

Pineapple and the Fibonacci Sequence | casaveneracion.com

Pineapple is one of those fruits that are available all year ’round in the tropics. It was never among my favorite fruits primarily because cutting off the skin and the “eyes” can be such an effort. I’m about to change my mind now, I think, because I will never look at those “eyes” again without feeling amazed at how nature has so arranged them in accordance with the Fibonacci sequence—eight in one direction and 13 in the opposite direction.

I’m not a math wiz; in fact, I’m rather bad at math. But after reading The Da Vinci Code and learning about the Fibonacci sequence and how it is found in nature, I marveled at just how awesome nature is.

If you’re not familiar with the Fibonacci sequence, this video explains it beautifully.
