I really don’t know where the color lavender ends and the color lilac begins. I’ve always referred to these as my lavender gumamela. We have two varieties, the smaller ones that we bought in Los Baños, Laguna, years ago, and the bigger ones with overlapping petals from a cutting given by Jay and Jet David about two Christmases ago. The following photos are flowers from that cutting.
And what does the plant look like?
Some gumamela (hibiscus) varieties grow to become trees, others remain bush-like. The cutting that Jay and Jet gave us is fast growing to become tree-like with a hard woody trunk. The other variety that we have, the one we bought in Los Baños, is different with thinner branches and a softer body.
