Sweeter than most margaritas but still with enough tang to tickle the taste buds, this kiwi margarita was the result of an experiment for cocktail drinks to serve on New Year’s Eve.
Speedy made this kiwi margarita the other day. Had a hard time taking photos as the sun was setting so we had to do it outdoors. Still wasn’t able to capture the full majesty of the color of kiwi with the added golden tinge from the tequila but, what the heck, the drink was very, very good.
The plan was to test new cocktail recipes long before New Year’s Eve, but Alex got sick, the dynamics in the house changed, and… Well, Alex is so much better now and I am so glad. It wouldn’t have been any fun being sick on New Year’s Eve. So I don’t need to prepare a separate soft diet for her any longer. On with the cocktail recipe testing then. Minus Alex though as her digestive system commands that she stay away from anything that can trigger another hyperacidic episode and that includes anything with alcohol.
Based on a recipe from Allrecipes.com.
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 3 and 1/2 teaspoons Gold tequila
- 3 and 1/2 teaspoons Triple Sec
- 1/2 kiwi peeled
- 1/4 cup fresh lime juice
- 1/2 cup ice
- Dump all the ingredients in the blender and process until smooth.
- Pour into a margarita glass.
- Garnish with a slice of kiwi.
- Serve immediately.
