I happened to find plantain in the supermarket but you can use saba bananas to make this very simple dessert. You will need less honey though as saba bananas are much sweeter than plantain.
I used walnuts but you can substitute whatever nut you prefer or have in your pantry. Most people have a supply of honey at home but if you don’t even maple-flavored pancake syrup will do.
This delicious dessert takes ten minutes to prepare and only four ingredients are used. Seriously.
The following recipe serves two. Just double the amount of ingredients if you are feeding more people.
- 2 ripe plantains, cut in half vertically
2 tbsps. of butter
2 tbsps. of chopped walnuts
about 4 tbsps. of honey
Heat a frying pan and dry roast the nuts. Transfer to a plate. Wipe the pan clean.
Melt the butter in the frying pan. Over medium heat, fry the sliced plantains until lightly browned, flipping them over for even cooking.
Arrange two slices of fried plantain on a plate, drizzle honey over and around them. Sprinkle with the chopped nuts.
