When our favorite drinking buddies (my brother-in-law, Buddy, and his best gal, Laura, whom you may have met in a previous post) asked if they could come over last Saturday, I said yes without second thoughts. The four of us hadn’t had fun in a while, Speedy and I needed a break from all the house cleaning and dishwashing (no house helper for the past month), so I thought it was a good idea.
When Buddy and Laura arrived, they brought a still unopened bottle of Absolut Vodka. It seems that all the talk about martinis from our previous evening together got Buddy a little obsessed and he wanted to make martinis. They couldn’t find Vermouth, they thought we’d have Vermouth at home (because we keep a huge stock of cocktail mixers) but we didn’t have Vermouth because we couldn’t find any although we have searched with due diligence for the longest time. What we had was a bottle of already-mixed Martini which Buddy wasn’t interested in because the idea was to have fun mixing drinks.
What transpired was even more fun. Instead of mixing endless glasses of martinis, we had five different cocktail drinks using the bottle of Absolut Vodka. Or, maybe, it was six cocktail drinks… I may have lost count after the fourth glass.
I remember that one was called a Greentini, another was called Porn Star, but I’ll have to ask Speedy again.
Great evening. Great company. Hilarious conversation.
I’ll be posting the recipes for the cocktail drinks over the next few days, perhaps not one after the other as there are food recipes to be posted too so they’ll probably be interspersed with one another.
