Because Sam is only home on weekends, I pamper her with home cooked meals. Last week, it was lengua with mushroom sauce and homemade pizza. Last night, I went the extra mile — pasta with white sauce and mushrooms, pork steaks and home made pesto bread (that’s why the bread is greenish — it’s ALL THAT PESTO!). Yes, I baked the bread. My arms ached from the kneading but I was darn happy with the result. I think though I’ll buy bread flour for my next attempt — it seems that all-purpose flour doesn’t give off the perfect bread texture.

yummy… pesto… my fave. but i prefer pesto on pasta.
So does my younger daughter. But with Sam, it has to be WHITE SAUCE. ALWAYS.
You might want to try doing no knead bread. Here’s a link to the recipe and directions:

Wow, that is revolutionary! Thanks. Will definitely try it. And soon.

Give Mr Speedy a hint for the next birthday, anniversary, mother’s day or the nearest occasion- a kitchenAid stand up mixer. Comes with a dough hook and other attachments-makes perfect bread dough even siopao buns. Bought mine in 1980 and still works very well. In fact my 22 year old daughter already claimed it for when i am ready to upgrade to a new one. This is just the simple home model not like the high-powered editions professional chefs use on tv.
That’s in the near horizon, Ruth. He already said he’d buy me one. The heavy-duty kind.
Just curious. How do you prepare the mushroom sauce for your lengua?
I love cooking with mushroom, that’s why.
Melt butter. Add mushrooms. Add flour. Cook until lightly browned. Add milk or cream. Stir in grated cheese. Season with salt and pepper.
I saw a purple color KitchenAide Stand Mixer at ATC ( alabang town center)cost 25K. Hay! I need to save for that.
I like making bread. I hope to see more posts on bread soon ms.connie.
I bought 1 kilo each of bread flour, cake flour and all purpose flour worth 130 pesos lang at my trusted bakery.
Mahal naman ng KitchenAide diyan. The model i have currently sells for less than $200. So kung may connection ka sa U.S.A na may balak mag balikbayan, por favor na lang magpa-uwi ng isang mixer. Yong nga lang baka kailangan ng 110V na transformer.
Sheilah, hay, so long as I’m not paying…LOL
Ruth, I think the S&R prices aren’t so bad.
