a beach in Subic

These photos were taken on the beach behind Gerry’s Grill in Subic where we had lunch just before we left for Metro Manila during a weekend stay last month. All are zoomed in photos.

Above, the portion of the beach reserved for swimmers. The larger portion was for jetskiing.

a lighthouse

A lighthouse. I don’t know if it’s a new lighthouse being constructed, an old lighthouse being renovated or a derelict lighthouse no longer in use. It was too far away to tell.

It’s too bad that Subic was initally a military base. It isn’t laid out correctly to be a resort. You can always see industrial areas — kinda takes away from the relaxation aspect. Did you see the Spanish Gate? That was the main gate to the Naval Station back in Spanish times. The square and church on close by there was actually the town square of Olongapo back then. When the Americans took over, the base was expanded and the entire town was moved across the river to its present location

Yeah, passed by the Spanish Gate. We didn’t go down though. Just passed by on our last day. I wanted to take photos but it was just after lunch. Wrong time of the day to take outdoor photos.
