Typhoon Paeng

My husband and kids are all packed. I’m just finishing my column for Thursday, Nov. 2, before doing my own packing. We’re supposed to leave tomorrow for a 3-day much-needed R&R vacation. Now, this:

The Department of the Interior and Local Government Sunday advised travelers planning their yearly All Saints Day trek to the provinces to cancel their plans because of the bad weather in Luzon brought by typhoon Paeng (international codename Cimaron), ABS-CBN News reported. [ABS-CBN News]

I think I’m going to be sick.

At any rate, the typhoon is expected to lash through Northern Luzon and we’re driving South, so, perhaps there’s no reason to cancel the trip. The typhoon is predicted to make landfall tonight but aside from a few minutes of rain about an hour ago, it seems fine here in Antipolo. I suppose it’s too unrealistic to expect that there won’t be any damage where Typhoon Paeng’s presence will be most strongly felt but I do hope that with the early warning, there won’t be too many casualties and injuries.
