The Philippine weblog awards

The Philippine weblog awards night will be on Saturday. It’s another reason for the slow blogging — I’m one of the judges.

One of the organizers, Gail, called me up last week and asked, “Connie, ano gusto mong corsage, yung sa collar o sa wrist (Connie, which corsage do you prefer, the one on the collar or the one on the wrist)?”

Me: “Pwede bang brilyante (Can I have diamonds)?”

Fast forward to last night when I was on the phone with Yuga (also an organizer of the Philippine weblog awards) in a moment of sheer panic over the Ubuntu installation.

Yuga: “O, pupunta ka sa Sabado, ha (You’re coming on Saturday, right)?”

Me: “Hmmmm….”

He started to rant and rave… pa-konsiyensya effect…

Me: “Okay, okay… (but still thinking of a way out hehehe — it’s the birthday party of two friends on the same evening!)”

Yuga: “Cocktails at 5.00 p.m… Formal attire, ha, baka naman mag-shorts ka (translated: PLEASE DON’T WEAR SHORTS).”

Oooohhh, wear shorts… what a delicious idea! And I have three new pairs of shoes to choose from to go with my favorite denim shorts!

That clinched it for me — I will attend the Philippine weblog awards night.

Funny you should blog about what passes as ‘formal’ wear. Been to one formal party last Sunday and I fretted over how my attire didn’t look formal enough. I felt overdressed. I realized that the less you wear (sleeveless, strapless, backless and goodness knows what else-less) the more formal you look. Strange ha.

Have a grant time at the awards night! Will watch out for who wins not only the awards but the side fashion contest. haha sock it to them, connie.

aye, true, annamanila. parang bare equals dressed-up.
