The Lagundi (Vitex Negundo) shrubs in the garden

In February last year, Speedy bought Lagundi seedlings. I had been suffering from hives and Lagundi capsules (and, later, lagundi herbal brew) were the only things that made the rashes go away. But what’s better than having a steady and permanent supply of fresh Lagundi leaves, right? Ergo, the seedlings were replanted in the garden.

The hives went away, they hadn’t bothered me for almost a year and I completely forgot about the Lagundi seedlings that had been replanted in the garden. I never checked how they were doing, if they had grown or if they had died. Then, about two weeks ago, the telltale signs of hives started to appear again. I pre-empted the spread of the rashes by drinking Lagundi brew and capsules. When my supply of Lagundi in “tea” bags started to dwindle, I remembered the Lagundi seedlings from last year. Had they grown sufficiently? Could I start picking the leaves to make a brew?

The seedlings have become prolific shrubs.

So, yes, I could start picking the leaves to make a brew.

The funny thing is that I didn’t know that we had much bigger Lagundi shrubs in the garden.

We didn’t plant them. Speedy said that they just, well… sprouted. And they must have been there — growing — even before he bought the Lagundi seedlings.

Imagine that. A bountiful harvest of Lagundi leaves. Now we don’t have to buy them in boxes or in capsule form. All we have to do is pick some leaves, boil them, strain the liquid and drink the brew. I’m going to try that tonight. And, oh yes, I’ll take photos.
