Some thoughts about buying a clothes dryer

laundry2

Living with no house help, you can’t imagine how many times I’ve been tempted to buy a clothes dryer and a dishwasher. These electric appliances may be considered standard household items in First World countries but not in the Third World. In fact, the washing machine was not a standard household appliance until about two ... (more)

Will candidates care about the environment AFTER the elections?

We went to the supermarket earlier today and, as we turned the corner to Circumferential Road, Sam noticed a GMA 7 truck in front of us and wondered what event was taking place. The answer became obvious just as few seconds later. As we passed the Yñares Sports Complex along Circumferential Road, there were new ... (more)

The environmentalist and the obstinate mango tree

The next list might include Boracay at the rate things are going. Read the story that accompanies the ... (more)

Disposable paper cups and some environmental concerns

Pretty, aren’t they? But I didn’t buy these disposable paper cups for their looks. We’re waterless again. In a week, the subdivision will cut off the deep well water supply and Manila Water will be our water supplier. The problem is that when Manila Water was laying out the pipes, their people thought that the ... (more)
