The following photos were taken on the same street in Antipolo, a suburb of Manila. They were, however, taken on different days and using different cameras. It’s actually the street that leads to the subdivision where we live.

Firetrees start blooming as soon as summer begins. But they reach full bloom around late April to early May.

Some residents put up makeshift stalls along the road and sell vegetables harvested from their own backyards.

On fine days, ambulant vendors roam the street–taho vendors (above), fishballs vendors (below), ice cream vendors and even little boys selling donuts from the neighborhood bakery.

The rustic fence of this house always makes me sigh and wish ours looked like it. The owner is handy with woodwork and has a green thumb to boot. Not among my talents nor my husband’s so we content ourselves by just gazing at it every time we pass by.

The strange looking flower with whiskers are among the many plants that grow in front of the house.
Because we live on a hill, the rainy season can bring on foggy days. In the city, all they get is smog.

Some people hate the fog… I think it’s romantic.

Thanks for “touring” us around your area.
I also like the fog (romantic, yes). But it can be “spooky,” too, especially if you think about those Dracula films featuring Christopher Lee. LOL.
LOL combine that with the sound of bugs at night and the more spooky it is.
Hi there,
The photos are superb. The fog, YES! It gives you the feeling of cold, fresh mornings. Rare during these hot summer days. Sometime in the past, I too have seen fog as thick as those in your pictures here in Marikina where I live.
Hi Malou. Uy, you’re nearby. I wish Antipolo was as organized as Marikina.
When it’s this hot, at least looking at photos of fog can be mentally refreshing, ano?
Hi connie! all your shots are georgeous! madalas akong nadalaw dito hindi lang nag paparamdam:)
happy mommy’s day to you, too. besos besos
loved the photo of the fire tree. aside from the acacia, it’s my favorite tree and there aren’t any in this part of the world. so thanks for the photo. i’ll stare at it and make believe i’m home.
cheH, mas masaya yung nagpaparamdam
hope you have a safe delivery.
Mai, I actually have a lot of firetree photos from various angles. Will post them very soon.
those firetrees remind me of the fall season here in the US. soo pretty.
na miss ko tuloy ang bahay namin sa antipolo. pakiramdam ko parang isang life time na akong umalis. salamat sa pictures, kahit papaano ay nakauwi.
more coming up, dexie.
and more antipolo pics, too, batjay.
Gorgeous colors! Look like Japan!
If only there was less concrete and more such gorgeous colors in the city…
Hi Connie,
I think I’ll love that place. I always think only of a place in Laguna where we’re more familiar.
I haven’t been to Antipolo. I remember growing up when folks in our barrio would pay homage to Antipolo’s patron saint.
We’ll probably visit next time.
Ever thought of making a travel docu film of places/events in the Philippines. Hand held videocam might just do. Used to see bucolic sceneries only in FPJ movies.
Joe
Hi Joe, my dream is to document the country in photographs and prose. Never thought of a video cam though. I’m addicted to stills.
