On the last Sunday of May, we hosted a small swimming party for our daughters, their classmates and some friends. We rented St. Moritz at the Vieux Chalet for the day. Vieux Chalet is a Swiss restaurant in Antipolo. St. Moritz is a pool and a guest cottage adjacent to the restaurant but which is still part of the compound.

Above, the quaint gate of Vieux Chalet overhanging with bougainville.

From the gate, these stone steps lead to the pool area and the guest cottage.

One of the many bonsai and bansoy plants surrounding the pool.

My daughter Sam and some of her classmates.

For lunch and mid-afternoon snacks, we brought two large trays of baked macaroni, chips, juices, hotdogs and 3 kilos of pork barbeque that my husband grilled beside a lounging/eating area a few meters from the pool.

The two-storey guest cottage has a dining room on the ground floor and a sleeping area and bathroom on the second floor.

My daughter Alex sunburnt from the day’s swimming.

The party broke up at around 4.00 p.m. as dark clouds hovered at the end of an otherwise hot and humid day. It would have been difficult transporting the food and water containers up the stone steps and into the car had we not started packing up before the rains fell. We made it just in time.

hi. great photos!may I know what kind/brand of digicam you used in taking them?
I love Vieux Chalet. It holds fond memories. Butch brought me here when I was like 7 months pregnant with Lauren. We even slept overnight. It was the very first time I ate pasta with basil. One of my most memorable dates except I was too pregnant . I want to go back there and bring the girls this time.
another thing, where is vieux chalet and how does one make reservations?
Nice to know about this place. Thanks, Sassy.
I think my husband would love Vieux Chalet. How long has the Swiss expat (the owner) lived in RP, if I may ask?

Thank you for featuring Vieux Chalet. We were there this afternoon and was amazed by the wonderful ambiance and great food this place has to offer. I live in Antipolo as well and am proud to have such a place where my best friends and I can spend the whole day and be delighted with conversations and great food. Rico is also the best! We will definitely come back soon. By the way, we got lost on the way there but took a really really narrow road on the opposite fork and found that road quite mystical and interesting. Thanks again.
Oh, that is so great! Yes, Rico is the most maasikaso person in the world.
We’re going there next week too. Glad you liked it there. My family loves Vieux Chalet.
20 years! gosh, how come i never learned of it all these years? not even when i was in UP
…maybe because it’s far from where i lived then, and now….anyway, it’s never too late – we plan to go there on my son’s 14th bday next weekend (found an excuse:)….thanks, Connie
Ruby, baka you don’t drink? When we were in UP Law, we’d drive up to Vieux Chalet for beer and pizza.
