In a country where liberal ideas have gone far too left, the conscience rule is most welcome. The state prescribed an age for a person to drive a vehicle or drink alcohol and yet the parents are the last to know and have no decision when their minor daughter wanted an abortion.

The conscience rule does not close out options completely. The person can still avail of the services from practitioner who does not abide by the conscience rule or from private facilities. Also, scarce federal funding will not necessarily be tied unlike before.

Kailangan na lang siguro pumili ng doctor kung ano ang mas matimbang para sa kanya: ang religion niya (na may malaking posibilidad na hindi naman niya pinili and was just forced into since a child) or ang pagtupad sa Hippocratic oath (I'm not saying though that s/he was not forced into medicine either, just that there is a greater possibility that he was not forced into it and he consciously and willingly chose to become a physician).

Separation between church and state is widely misunderstood and misinterpreted.Working in a city
where immigrants come from more than 140 countries and speaks 224 different languages and innumerable
religious beliefs and practices it definitely enriched my life.I learned to embrace these cultural differences. When we are faced with decisions that does not conform with our own religious convictions our hospital has a Bioethics
Committe that will advice us on the RIGHT THING TO DO without jeopardizing a patient's well-being and safety.
Connie, countless times I've prayed silently at the patient's bedside.I've whispered "May awa ang
Diyos" or "Patnubayan ka ng Diyos". How can I tell someone that "Jesus loves" you when a person does not know HIM?
Thanks for writing about the "right of conscience
rule".I only learned about this on your post.
It's just that I'm spending too much time in reading Pinoy Cook archive.
 God Bless!!
