We call it lawin, the island of Langkawi in Malaysia is named after it and it is the official mascot of Jakarta. The Brahminy Kite, also known as the red-backed sea-eagle, is a bird of prey and is not listed as an endangered specie.
This particular lawin at the Albay Park & Wildlife in Legazpi City was accommodating enough to spread its wings and show off its plumage while I did some high speed photography.
