Red and black and they’re all over

Remember the story about the ant who worked all summer gathering food so he wouldn’t starve when the winter came? The theme was repeated in Dreamwork’s Antz. Well, I’ve been watching the scene in real life almost everyday for the past few weeks. Summer is here, so are the ants, they’re in the garden, in the house, on walls, on countertops and in just about every nook and cranny. I even find them in the linen closet. No matter how often you clean, they come back after a few hours. Ants may look lovable as characters in animated films but, in real life, they’re just pests.

Are ants taking over your house too? How do you deal with them?

Buy borax powder and mix with sugar water and put in a spray bottle. Spray on areas where ants frequently stay. The sugar will attract them while the borax will kill the pests.

    I love the photo…..parang painting.

That’s a problem here, too.A friend gave me a Chinese chalk that one applies on the
doorway or window sill that prevents them from entering the house.Since it’s wrapped in a colorful red paper with Chinese characters on it I never new about the active ingredients
in it.It did worked for awhile.

Now there’s a professional exterminator who comes once a week and spray outside the house.
    Ants gone.

we used to have a lot of black ants in our kitchen. at first i didn’t really mind kasi sabi nila sign daw yon na yayaman ka. hahahaha joke lang… well i did try pouring boiling water on their nest (read that tip in good housekeeping). it improved things a bit, but they’re not completely gone yet.
