Peanut cakes

They are a Chinese delicacy, actually, but the way Filipinos have taken to them, one would think they have always been a part of Filipino food tradition. Peanut cakes are made from compressed ground peanuts and sugar. You can buy them in almost all food shops in Chinatown and they are available in most supermarkets.

What’s new is that there are now sugar-free peanut cakes…

… and ube-flavored peanut cakes. Or, maybe, they have been around for quite a while and I just never noticed. I really like the original peanut cakes better.

    Hello Connie,

Everytime I need to cook certain recipes that I don’t know of, I refer to your fantastic site! I should let you know that they’re amazing, and so easy to follow! The fact that I didn’t use to like or know how to cook, now, nobody can take me out of my kitchen!

Anyway, I love nuts, and even here in the uk I regularly buy my peanut butter spread, to the dismay of my husband! I wonder if you have any recipe for making this nut cake? I would love it!

    Thanks a lot!

    Kind regards,

    Ellie

Hi Ellie, glad you’re now hooked into cooking. Great way to develop creativity, isn’t it? About making peanut cakes… I wish I knew how. They’re available just about everywhere that I never really thought about making them at home. sorry…
