No-cook banana, yogurt and chocolate dessert

Dessert without the guilt. Fresh lacatan bananas smothered in mango-flavored yogurt and topped with shaved dark chocolate. Got the idea from my daughter, Alex, who likes to stir sliced bananas into her cup of yogurt.

no cook choco banana dessert

Recent studies say dark chocolate does have health benefits although that’s no license to binge. A tablespoonful or two of shaved dark chocolate satisfies the craving, adds color and contrasting flavor to the sweetness of the bananas and the slight tanginess of the yogurt.

Ingredients

  • 2 fresh bananas (I prefer lacatan but latundan will do too)
1/2 c. of mango-flavored yogurt (you can experiment with other flavors)
1 to 2 tbsps. of shaved dark chocolate (I used a vegetable peeler)

Instructions

  1. Peel and slice the bananas. Place on a plate or shallow bowl.

Pour or spoon the yogurt over the bananas.

Sprinkle the shaved chocolate on top.

    Enjoy!

Prep time (duration): 5 minutes

Number of servings (yield): 1 to 2

pwede kaya all-purpose cream? o kaya yung flavored all-purpose cream, strawberry and.. i forgot the other one. hehehe

  2. you can add some sliced strawberry and some grated cheese to make it more delicious

  3. Lou says:

Love this variation! I often have sliced bananas with yogurt, a bit of honey — and WALNUTS!

  4. A says:

If you add cream, it won’t be as healthy, because cream is so high in cholesterol (the bad kind) and saturated fat, plus adding sugar to sweeten it won’t be good either. Then again, the taste of cream = heaven… Either because it tastes really good, or eating too much will hasten your departure! Hahahaha…

Magnolia makes a wickedly good flavored yogurt. I am now enrolled in St. Luke’s Weight Management Program, and flavored yogurt is one of the few desserts I’m allowed to have everyday, up to twice a day even. Thank you Miss Connie for this recipe. This actually has two servings of fruit and 1 serving of dairy. Eating two of these would fulfill a daily requirement of 4 servings of fruit and 2 servings of dairy, so it’s a guilt-free indulgence.

Finally, try dipping chocolate chip cookies or broas in flavored yogurt. Berry-flavored or melon-flavored yogurt make really great dips for cookies or can even replace milk for corn flakes. Thanks again! :-)
