Mirin

mirin

Japanese sweet cooking wine, one of the two used for making teriyaki marinade. There are two kinds of mirin — hon mirin and shin mirin. Shin mirin with less than 1% alcohol content is used for cooking.

    oh no! last week I bought Mirin from SM Supermarket but it was clear in color. your mirin here is light gold in color. is it the same?? will it be alright?
    and another thing.. can i substitue mirin with sake? thanks much.

      I’ve never seen mirin that isn’t light gold in color. You might want to do further research on that.

      Mirin and sake are two different things. Substitute one for the other and the flavor of the dish will turn out differently.
