I know I’m done posting my entry for Lasang Pinoy 8 but my kids took turns making mocha latte and choco latte earlier tonight and… why waste such a wonderful story? Because it really was quite a story–I ended up drinking one tall glass of mocha latte and two short glasses of choco latte. How could I say no after all their effort, eh? Of course, after that, I swore I won’t eat a thing tomorrow.

So, that’s my 12-year-old daughter making mocha latte. What she put in them, I don’t know exactly. I know she mixed strong coffee with chocolate following Sha‘s instructions in the choco loco comment thread.

And that is how her mocha latte looked when she was done–complete with a drizzle of chocolate syrup on top of the whipped cream.
Not to be outdone, her sister, 13-year-old Sam, wanted to make her own version of Starbucks-style latte. I would have taken photos but she didn’t want me to see how she would do it or what she would put in it. I was hanging around in the kitchen while she was preparing the gadgets but the moment she was about to start, she told me to leave.

I was back in front of my laptop when she handed me the luscious looking concoction in the photo above. Choco latte.
I thought we were through for the night when Sam came back about 10 minutes later with another glass of chocolate latte for me–she said she forgot to add barquillos in the first one and I had to try her version with the barquillos.

I was in latte heaven, believe me. But that means no dessert for the next couple of days to pay for those sinful concoctions.

lucky mom, you are!! foget the calories
What’s up with these girls obsessed with drinks? Mine are the same way…they have been experimenting with duplicating the starbucks frapuccino:???:
Yeah, the generation of Starbucks crazy kids.
LOL it’s been around 4 hours since I had my third glass of latte and I still feel full.
My daughters always use fat free or 99% fat free or sugar free alternatives in their drinks. (We’re a family prone to diabetes) Also, they are so conscious of calories. Since there is no fat free cream, they skip that lovely part. hehe
That looks good! I love those pirouettes on that latte.
Oh oowwwww!!
Pahingi! Me too can’t resist sassy…. dilaan ko ang screen..
i was just chatting with you while you were having that choco latte. next thing i know it’s already an LP8 entry! pano na kaya yung ang soup ni cean… the one i’ve told u about?
hay, really – kids can make the best concoctions! my 15-year old girl also does a lot of experimenting, and i’m happy because she is learning her kitchen craft. Kaya lang, magastos sa ingredients kung minsan – haha!
perfect for a pregnant lady..hehe.
noemi, we tried sugar substitutes long ago (hubby comes from a family of diabetics) but there’s an aftertaste that lingers…
so do we, ludwig, so do we hehehehe
LOL relly… uy, we’re doing the green mango shake tomorrow. we got everything we need.
iska, aba i-post mo syempre! priceless moments yan. we should immortalize them.
rhodora, yeah that is so true. me, i TRY to tell them not to be wasteful. Sometimes, I succeed, sometimes I don’t
dexie, the baby in your tummy will be so happy. hehehe and the mommy of course hahahaha
So sweet naman ng daughter mo, Connie. Well, kahit siempre super taas ng calories niyan basta mga kiddo natin ang nag-offer, drink at eat ang mga mommy.
naku, mas type ko naman ‘tong mga concoction ng anak mo kesa starbucks ‘no! kami rin we make our own — at a fraction of the cost pa!
parang ang sarap
hay, lani, that is sooooo true. they hand me their concoction and it isn’t just about being delicious. it’s pride and happiness of a mom.
stef, totoo yan. super bloated ang prices sa starbucks. SOBRA!
Lourdes, really? Wow, where is that magazine published? US?
Hi Melai, very refreshing. It’s dessert and coffee in one!
Happy to inform you that Filipinas Magazine is published monthly by Filipinas Publishing, Inc. GBM Bldg. 1580 Bryant St. Daly City, CA 94015. The editor and publisher is Greg B. Macabenta (g.macabenta@filipinas.com) and their website is: http://www.filipinasmag.com The article described your blog as very informative but fun & playful at the same time ( I agree ). I think it’s widely circulated here in the US & they even sell it at Barnes & Noble, one of the biggest bookstore chains here. Something to be really proud of!!! Congrats again!
Thanks, Lourdes. For the info too. Actually, I searched Google a while ago and I found the online version. Unfortunately, the article on page 11 was supposed to be continued at page 16 and page 16 wasn’t there. ‘Di bale, so long as the URL is correct ok na ‘yun.
Oh, that was the one I saw then… the March issue. When the April issue is online, I’ll be able to read it.
Great blog and very interesting…articles and subjects. Keep up the great work pinoycook.com
