When we bought Salt and Pepper, we asked the shop owner how often it was advisable to bathe cats. She said once a week is usually enough for kittens. We also asked if bathing them was problematic. She said no, in fact, they were very well behaved during bath time.
It was a little hard to believe that any cat could be well behaved during bath time. From experience, my daughters almost always ended with nasty scratches on their arms as a result of bathing their cats.
But, for some reason, the Persian kittens do not seem averse to bathing. Whether it is a characteristic peculiar to Persian cats, I am not sure. Today, Salt and Pepper took their third bath since we brought them home. I did not witness the first two — it was just the girls at the time — but I was there earlier today to see Salt and Pepper get their bath. It wasn’t just to take photos. I insisted that they be bathed in a tub of lukewarm water rather than being sprayed with a water hose which was how the girls usually did it. So, I guess I was there to make sure.

Well-behaved kittens, indeed.

Hello. I really enjoy your site about cats and the pics of your beautiful cats! I am a cat owner myself and i really like seeing owners who care about their cats and other pets, ect. I think your cat pepper is absolutely beautiful! She kinda reminds me of my cat (he’s the most fluffy cat i’ve ever seen! He’s just a huge cuddle ball of fluff! I also have three others and i love them all equally!! (*o*)
Hi Miss loves cats.
I wasn’t much of a pet lover until we had cats. We have a dog and my daughters kept fish, hamsters, birds and rabbits at one time or another. We even had a rooster and a hen for a while. But nothing beats having cats. They are sweet and loving and just adorable.
You’re absolutely right!! Dogs are great but they never calm down (i have three and they can be a handful at times… well my puppy is all the time) and birds and fish lack the personality a cat has! last night (when it was incredibly dark) i thought one of my dogs chased after my kitten and made him run into the neighboring woods (i live in a woody area, i like it because my pets can have their freedom) and it made me so mad at my dog! but later when i was around the other side of my house i found my kitten, his name is Cheddar (my mom named him that)! I was so relieved to find him but now i’ve got yet another stray at my house! I have three others now its four!! And one of the strays chased my cat, Cindy, up to our house and tackled her right in front of me and my dad!! I was so mad! I broke them up and made sure Cindy was ok and luckily she was!! You’re right cats are the best! Some day, i want to be a vet, i want to open up a shelter for stray cats. It seems to me there are more stray cats than dogs so i want to help them!
have more pictures!!they are sooo fascinating!!!:D
Ah lucky! They are so well-behaved. My Doll Face Persian, Ash hates taking a bath. I got him when he was 4 months old and now he’s 5 months. I try to bathe him once a week but I guess he will never get used to it. I have another concern though. My kitten seems to be losing his coat. He used to be so fluffy but now I think he is “moulting”. Did you experience this with your long-haired cats? He doesn’t have fleas since I “flea-dip” him twice already just to be sure. I read that moulting is normal and that kittens has to shed their baby fuzz to make way for the adult coat. No bald spots, just thinning hair and I see new hair regrowth which is a little coarser than tha baby fuzz he used to have.
And oh, here’s a recent picture of him. You can see he has lost some of his fur around the neck.
They shed hair twice a year or so. Don’t worry. The hair grows back.

Cute. And chubby!
Thank you. I feel better now that I know his hairs are going to grow back.
