When the kids were younger, throwing a party meant I had to do all the cooking. Well… except for the two occasions when we hired a caterer because cooking for a hundred was beyond my capabilities. Actually, cooking for 30 is already beyond by capabilities. My limit is somewhere around 20.
Anyway, we’re hosting a small swimming party tomorrow. The girls invited friends from school and there will be around 15 of us. We spent the day preparing the food. For the first time, I didn’t do the cooking and the preparations alone. Sam and Alex did a lot of the work. I was actually watching a James Bond film on Star Movies while Sam threaded the pork I marinated for grilling tomorrow. Alex was in charge of the polvoron. Earlier in the day, they chopped the vegetables and diced the bacon that went into the pasta sauce (we’re having baked macaroni tomorrow as well).

Best thing was I didn’t have to ask for help. They volunteered. I’m a happy mommy.

What a delightful girls. They must love cooking too. My daughter in UP will soon joing her Ate in a dorm which as a a kitchen. They got some interesting recipes at pinoycook.net They are bored with their usual recipes.
Yes, they love cooking… actually the more accurate phrase would be “they love experimenting”. I think my older girl will go to CCA. But that’s a few years away yet.
cooking with daughters, wow, what a fabulous way to bond. it seems they are pretty much serious in cooking too.
