I just love red wine

Identifying some of the health benefits from Resveratrol, a chemical compound naturally produced by grapes, was good for red wine drinkers. The news is even better today.

Researchers from the University of Illinois at Chicago report that both red wine and resveratrol may be effective killers of a bacteria known to cause lung infections such as pneumonia and bronchitis and even contribute to heart disease. The study was published in the December 2003 issue of the medical journal Atherosclerosis.

But what about people who do not like, or cannot drink, alcohol?

Well, there is the red wine pill.

The pill, being worked on at the Pavese Pharma Biochemical Institute at Pavia in Italy, would contain these healthy ingredients. The New Scientist reported: ÒFreeze-drying and compacting the mix leaves a tablet with all the benefits of a glass of wine, say the inventors.”

No pills for me. IÕd rather have the real thing. With cheesecake.
