Breakfast can’t get more traditional than this — traditional American, that is. Ham and eggs, served separately, or stirred together along with chopped onions and potato cubes. It’s a breakfast that is rich in protein and carbs that any active person will appreciate.

For Olympic athletes who are looking for that extra boost, however, a traditional breakfast may sound too tame.
BEIJING (Reuters) – The oldest and biggest Chinese medicine store in Beijing is stocked with traditional ingredients like deer’s penis, dried seahorses, fungi, and ginseng.
At one end there is now a counter with signs warning athletes over centuries-old stimulants.
Things like deer’s penis may sound out of this world for Westerners but in Asia where cuisines and health cures range from plain to exotic, there’s nothing unusual about such things. In the Philippines, Soup No. 5, made with bull’s testicles, is considered to be both an exotic dish and an aphrodisiac. The stalls in front of the Quiapo church in Manila and shops in Chinatown have herbs and mixtures for just about everything — from having a smooth skin to having a horse’s stamina in bed. Since most of these traditional medicines and cures are actually dried locally-grown herbs, they are natural unlike chemical-laden Western drugs.
