I don’t bother too much with cooking when there’s just myself at home. Which is most of the day for five days a week. Yesterday, I grilled a kielbasa then poured the heated contents of a can of pork and beans over it. With buttered toast, it was a great lunch!
It’s really nothing extraordinary. I’ve tried other versions of this easy recipe at friends’ homes and even in restaurants. Most times, however, regular hotdogs are used. More economical and more readily available. But I was in the supermarket yesterday and I went a little Treffpunkt Jedermann-crazy. Haven’t had Treffpunkt Jedermann stuff in years.
Ingredients :
some hotdogs (sausages), regular or deli stuff
a can of pork and beans
a little steak sauce
chopped basil leaves
buttered toast
Cooking procedure :
You don’t really have to make incisions on the hotdogs unless they are large. However, if you’re using the kind of hotdogs or sausages with skin that is likely to burst during grilling, it is a good idea to make a few incisions. Or, you can just prick the skin in several places with a fork.
Grill the hotdogs or sausages. Transfer to a plate and keep warm.
Heat a can of pork and beans. Add a dash of steak sauce and stir. Pour over the grilled hotdogs or sausages. Sprinkle with some chopped basil leaves. Serve with buttered toast.

interesting.. makes the pork & beans ain’t a boring food! will try this using the Hungarian Sausage we have here at home
