Gumamela

Gumamela

Beside the row of jasmine, right on the corner of the house is a gumamela plant with dark pink flowers with overlapping petals. Just like the Bangkok kalachuchi in front of the house, this one almost died too. When the grills of the windows on the second floor were being re-painted (it rained hard a day after they were first painted when the enamel was still wet), the workers used a ladder the foot of which had to be positioned very near the gumamela. The trunk of the plant cracked and we’ve propped it up with a piece of wood. Later, when it has had a chance to grow some more, we will just cut off the portion where it had cracked.
