Early morning in the garden

lavender gumamela (hibiscus)

Grass is slippery when it rains and I don’t bring out my camera unless it’s safe. The one morning early this week that it wasn’t raining when I got out of bed to fix the kids’ school lunch, there was this lavender gumamela (hibiscus) that was just starting to open. No longer a bud but not yet in full bloom. Too irresistible. I simple had to freeze the moment.

It's so common in the Philippines, we often take it for granted. I think it's one of the most beautiful flowers in the world. Complete too with both male and female parts. :)

Wow. I seldom see a purple hibiscus. If not for the stigma, I would have thought that it is a morning glory!

Hey Connie! I saw you on TV over the weekend and didn't realize that you have metamorphosed into a famous columnist and blogger.

We worked together in a law firm in Makati while I was a struggling law student. Shortly before and after you were married. Good to see you again!
