Conversation at a pet shop

We were at Tiendesitas earlier tonight. If you’re new to this blog, my younger daughter Alex lost two white cats over the last few years: a Persian named Salt and a blue-eyed macho cat named Maki. When Alex spotted a grey Persian at a pet shop tonight, she started getting antsy.

Alex: “Mommyyyyyy… I want a kitty…”

Me: “I thought you wanted an iPod Touch…??”

Alex: “… I want an iPod Touch…”

Me: “So, which is it — iPod Touch or a kitty?”

Alex: “Both…???”

Me: “No…”

Pet shop salesman to Alex: “You should get a kitten…”

Me, cutting him short: “We already have three cats.”

Pet shop salesman (persistent bugger): “How about a dog?”

Me, raising one eyebrow: “We have two dogs.”

Pet shop salesman: “Get an iPod then… We have nothing else to offer you…”

Amusing guy (Sam giggles in the background).

Anyway, we weren’t at Tiendesitas to buy a kitten. Or a puppy. It was Sam who wanted to go there because…

There. Say hello to Macaroon. Rooney, for short.

What is it?

Here, take another look.

Recognize it now?

As soon as Sam brought Rooney inside the house, someone thought he was dinner.

In fact, all three cats were milling around Rooney. How they’ll all learn to co-exist, we have yet to see. If it’s any consolation to Rooney and the cats, Sam intends to bring Rooney with her to the condo. He’ll be home only when she is during weekends.

Happy New Year!

  3. Lois says:

careful that the cats don’t pound the cage at night. they might be in the mood for a midnight snack. =)

It’s been years since I’ve last seen a hedgehog. Quite rare for Pinoys to have one as a pet. Guinea pigs or hamsters are the more popular ones.

Though it would be very interesting to see how the cats would go around Rooney’s spiked hairs in case they do get their paws on him.

You should’ve named him Sonic! :p

    Oops, that reveals my age.

    Happy New Year, Connie!

  7. Jhay, the girls had hamsters years ago, but… hamsters eat their dead offspring. Disgusting. :(

Jon, I heard the girls mention that name over the past few days. Cartoons ba yan?

Rhodora, happy new year too! And to everyone. Have a great year ahead.

wanted to get one of this since I saw one years ago at a petshop. Medyo expensive lang compared to hamsters. What does it eat? matinik ba ung fur nya? Naguguluhan ako kung hedgehog or porcupine ung masakit hawakan
