Almost an antique wall clock

It took us almost a year and a half to find the “right” wall clock for our living room, something that would stand out on the orange walls and make a statement by itself. When we went to Dapitan before Christmas to buy garlands, we also found this antique-style wall clock. The face has the texture of very old paper and the metal is the color of brass. Beautiful. We haggled for a while but a two hundred peso discount was as much as we could get. We paid a thousand for the clock.

It took another few weeks before the clock was finally mounted on the wall. And it was at that time that my illusions about the clock being antique looking were shattered. Can you read what’s written on the lower half of the clock? Quartz. It says QUARTZ. Gee, I don’t think they had quartz clocks during the last century.

Print it! Print it!   Pin It

Ang ganda po. I especially like the shadow around it.

Oo nga ano, there’s the word Quartz! … I hope most of your house guests are near-sighted so they’d miss it!! After all, it’s an elegant clock. :)

it still looked elegant..! and i must say that kundi nyo po sinabi na may ‘quartz’ na nakalagay… hindi naman po masyado mapapansin dahil it blended with everything else on the wall (orange wall paint, curtains, and table lamp)

  4. Kaya bang tanggalin yung glass cover? I was thinking, maybe Alex can come up with a design that could blend with the brass and cover ‘quartz’. Or take a photo of the background, print swatches of varying lightness, and select the one closest reproduction of the texture (manual photoshop cloning).

  5. Actually, I’m okay with the “Quartz” thing. Makes it a real conversation piece hehehehe

The one and a half years spent looking for the right clock was worth it. Ang ganda! If I will be your visitor, hindi ko na siguro mapapansin yung effect ng “Quartz” sa overall beauty nya. Hahaha.

    Basta maganda.

I love it! It goes well with everything that’s in the photo.

There’s actually no problem at all about that clock, even with the “Quartz” on its face…well, if it was an authentic antique, you sure wouldn’t have gotten it for the low price that you did! It is just so lovely and it complements everything in its surrounding. It has character.

It’s an antique-looking clock which eventually will be antique. It will last for years and decades. If it no longer works – after replacing with new AA battery – just have the ‘quartz-mechanism’ replaced with a new one. A new mechanism would cost less than a P100.

Lovely piece! It really belongs :)

  11. Jonphil, that’s a nice perspective hehehe

Thanks, Josie, it was worth all the waiting.
