Beside the Harbour Front Centre in Singapore is Vivo City, a rather high-end mall that, under ordinary circumstances, I wouldn’t have visited. But there was this particular model of Ray Ban sunglasses that Speedy wanted and, while killing time (we were between cruises), I figured I might as well search Vivo City. That flower filled tree is in front of the main entrance of the mall. Was I able to find Speedy’s Ray Ban? Oh, yes.
And, believe it or not, the optometrist that entertained me was a Filipina and we chatted for quite some time while completing the transaction. She told me she’s not a fan of GMA Channel 7 because when the network brought the Eat! Bulaga team to hold a show in Singapore, the big stars did not show up. Instead, there were just the sidekicks and the back-ups. And most of the Filipinos who went to see the show felt cheated. I guess Pinoys abroad really are hungry for a taste of home even with popular entertainment.
